 Over 850 lbs. of pet food and 140+ blankets collected to  benefit local shelter pets

 

The cold weather did not stop the community from helping out local shelter pets as they generously donated bags of pet food, blankets, dog treats and toys. Project COMPANION volunteers were at the ready to collect the items which they will be distributing to both the City and County holding facilities over the upcoming months.

It is getting, “Texas Cold” out there, and the stray pet population at local pounds need warm hearts. Local animal advocacy group, Project COMPANION, is asking the community for new or gently used blankets or towels, dog and cat food to benefit shelter pets during the colder months. With the help of kind citizens, Project COMPANION raised 470 lbs. of pet food and over 130 blankets at last year’s drive. The haul was split between the County and City Pet Holding Facilities.
